Spanish Teacher (K–12 or High School) Job Description
Position Title: Spanish Teacher
Reports To: Principal or Head of School
Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Position
Position Summary
The Spanish Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging and student-centered learning environment that develops students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish. The teacher promotes cultural awareness, global citizenship, and a love for language learning while fostering academic excellence and positive character development.
Essential Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver standards-based Spanish instruction aligned with state and school curriculum requirements.
- Teach Spanish language skills, including vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading, writing, and conversational fluency.
- Integrate Hispanic cultures, traditions, and current events into instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and educational technology to enhance student engagement.
- Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments and maintain accurate records of student progress.
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Foreign Language Education, Education, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in Spanish/World Languages.
- Strong oral and written proficiency in Spanish and English.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Education, Spanish, or related field.
- Experience teaching middle or high school Spanish.
- Experience with immersion, AP Spanish, IB, or dual-language programs.
- Ability to integrate technology and project-based learning into instruction.
