Lower School Lead Teacher (K-5)

Responsibilities include:

  • leading a homeroom in Classes K-IV; overseeing the daily life of each girl at school
  • serving as the expert on each student; remaining alert to shifts in their mood, behavior, work habits, and friendships and remaining current in each girl’s academic progress
  • teaching English, social studies, and mathematics
  • supporting the social-emotional needs of students
  • collaborating with a team to write curriculum and develop the program
  • participating fully in the life of the classroom, the Lower School, and the school at large
  • mentoring an associate teacher
  • supporting and advancing the School’s commitment to anti-racism.

 

The ideal candidate will:

  • hold a bachelor’s degree, graduate degree preferred
  • have at least two years of head teaching experience in an elementary classroom
  • demonstrate  a genuine passion for and knowledge of elementary education
  • have competence in inclusive, anti-bias, anti-racist pedagogy
  • show a sincere interest in young people and an appreciation for the variety of ways in which they grow and learn
  • possess excellent communication skills;
  • have a record of fairness, consistency, and promptness in evaluating student work and in responding to students’ individual progress
  • demonstrate the desire to collaborate

Salary

In 2023-24, the total full-time salary for this position ranges from $79,600 to $147,000, depending on experience.
